Advising is one of the most important services provided by our department. The purpose of advising is to ensure you will be successful in completing your degree program and, at the same, derive the best education value from your experience at FIU.

Advising involves academic planning, degree requirements, course prerequisites, and selection of an academic advisor. Your academic advisor also helps with administrative procedures such as registration.

  • The GPD will provide the initial advising and help with change of major, course equivalences and graduation, among others.

  • Graduate orientation is held each fall within the first two weeks of the semester. Attendance is strongly recommended for all students. Orientation dates are posted on the advising website and on the departmental home page.

  • To change your degree program to Civil or Environmental Engineering, please fill the Change of Major form (see "Forms" link) and email it to ceegradadvisor@fiu.edu

  • Advising Holds are placed on students files before the registration period starts. This ensures communication between students and the advisors during class registration. The advising hold will be released once you have seen your major advisor or have sent your Electronic Registration online and your advisor has approved it.

  • Registration Procedure can be performed online using the Electronic Registration link, or can be done directly using PantherSoft once your Advising Hold has been removed. For more information on the registration procedure please check the "Registration Procedure" link below.

  • You can make an appointment using the link posted below. Appointments should be made in advance. It is strongly recommended that you schedule your appointments during times other than the previous days before deadlines; planning in advance would save you unavoidable delays and problems.please contact Ms. Haydee Caneda to schedule appointments.

  • You can email CEE Graduate Advisor, using the link below, for general information.
